Draft for you to change:

We represent individuals at every stage of a criminal case, from the first contact with police to the verdict and beyond.

Investigation and pre-indictment

If police want to talk to you, or you learn you are under investigation, call before you say anything. We speak to investigators and the District Attorney for you, find and preserve evidence, and, where it helps, prepare you to testify before the grand jury.

Arraignment and release

At the first court date we argue for your release and against conditions you cannot meet, and we start reviewing the evidence the prosecution must turn over.

Grand jury

We serve notice of your right to testify (CPL 190.50), decide with you whether to use it, and prepare you and your witnesses.

Motions and hearings

We challenge unlawful stops, searches and statements, the identification evidence and the grand jury proceedings, and we test the prosecution's witnesses at hearings before trial.

Trial

We prepare every case as if it will be tried, with investigators and experts where the case calls for them, and we try cases before juries in the courts of the Finger Lakes.

Sentencing and after

If a case ends in a conviction, we fight for the lowest lawful sentence and for alternatives to incarceration, and we handle SORA hearings, appeals and Article 78 proceedings.

How we work

Tom: how clients reach you, how quickly you respond, who they deal with, how often they hear from you.

Fees

Tom: how fees are set. For example: a flat fee per stage of the case, agreed in a written letter of engagement before work begins.
